These are challenging times. A lot of changes on the political landscape, both in the United States and globally. But in California, we’ve been on the move. With Building Healthy Communities and many other partners working together, California has started to rebuild our tattered social compact. We’ve got 5 million people newly insured across the state in health insurance. We’ve got 260,000 undocumented children that now have full scope coverage in California. We’ve got a million people who are eligible to reclassify their low-level felonies into misdemeanors so they don’t have to check the box when they apply for a job or for housing. We’ve got 400,000 fewer suspensions and expulsions across the state so kids are staying in school, they’re learning and they’re on track to participate in the 21st century economy. California is on the move because this is driven by Building Healthy Communities partners and many others throughout the state. We’re showing the rest of the country that we can rebuild a state for all of us.
